Introduction

KATHRYN GOLDMAN SCHUYLER helps people connect with themselves and sense the purpose that flows through their lifework. She has focused on the inter-relationship of personal awareness practices and societal change in her writing, consulting, and teaching as Professor of Organization Development at Alliant International University. Recently, as chair of the International Leadership Association’s 22nd global conference, she helped create their first global interactive online conference. Kathryn introduced to the conference a process of mindfulness and connection that was new to the ILA, with sessions each day combining meditation from varied cultural traditions with reflection and conversation. Kathryn has published three books relating to the importance of inner work for leadership towards a healthy world, as well as numerous articles. As a practitioner, she has considerable experience with leadership development, organizational consulting, research, and somatic learning. Kathryn studied somatics professionally with Moshe Feldenkrais and has lifetime certification as a Feldenkrais Practitioner, which she has introduced to people of all ages and levels of physical capacity.

Why am I an OPEN fellow?

Since childhood I have seen the potential for the earth to be a place that is home for all its beings or a cold, even hostile environment for many of us. I wish to do all I can to support those who are collaborating to support the earth and all its inhabitants. I see how much it affects those people around us when we are aware of our interconnectedness with them, when we are present and engaged, and when we care. My commitment is to offer what I can to help all others simultaneously give what they can and enjoy being full human beings.

How can I help change agents?

Supporting leaders and change agents in creating or maintaining the kind of awareness practice that nourishes them for the long periods necessary to create new institutions.
