Today, on 18th July 2017, we launched OPEN at the PRME Global Forum, part of the UN High Level Political Forum in New York, USA.
Our collaboration platform, One Planet Business, is now live and open to free registration by anyone with an interest in driving innovation in the teaching, research and practice of sustainable business. With content led by our One Planet Business Schools and Fellows, it will focus on the professional advancement of business and technical disciplines relevant to sustainable business as well as providing a valuable tool for engaging students around the world in real-life SDG-related business challenges.
Celebrating our launch alongside founding One Planet Business Schools and Fellows and with an audience of invited business schools, OPEN CEO & Co-Founder Tony Cooke outlined why WWF and partners have launched OPEN as a practical contribution to the global effort to implement the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and to realising the vision for management education outlined in 50+20.
Speaking at the event, Cooke said: “The UN SDGs represent an unprecedented $12trn of business opportunities, but unlocking these opportunities will require us going way beyond business as usual. The time is ripe for a multi-disciplinary, multi-sector, egalitarian approach to problem-solving in search of breakthrough business solutions to the SDGs. One Planet Business will provide a neutral platform for educators or students, entrepreneurs or ecologists, executives or engineers to collaborate around carefully framed challenges to advance the teaching, research and practice of sustainable business. One Planet Business puts educators at the centre of change-making.”
Alongside One Planet Business, we are also launching our expert pool, OPEN Faculty, which pulls together our Fellows to offer business schools around the world a valuable bank of expertise to tap into to help the realise their ambition to embed the SDGs into their programmes.
